About the Journal
Aim:
Environmental Research and Ecotoxicity is a scientific journal dedicated to advancing interdisciplinary research on the interactions between human activity, environmental systems, and chemical substances. The journal aims to foster a deeper understanding of the sources, behavior, effects, and mitigation of pollutants across ecosystems. With a special emphasis on environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology, it serves as a platform for studies that contribute to the protection, preservation, and sustainable management of natural environments in both local and global contexts.
Scope:
Environmental Research and Ecotoxicity welcomes original research articles, systematic reviews, and conceptual papers focused on the scientific, methodological, and policy aspects of environmental health, pollution, and toxicology. The journal encourages submissions from a broad range of disciplines including chemistry, biology, ecology, environmental engineering, and public health. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Environmental Chemistry: Studies on the chemical composition, transformations, and fate of contaminants in air, water, soil, and biota. This includes research on persistent organic pollutants, heavy metals, emerging contaminants, and chemical speciation.
- Ecotoxicology: Investigations on the toxic effects of natural or anthropogenic substances on living organisms and ecosystems. Includes bioassays, biomarkers, trophic interactions, and population-level impacts of environmental stressors.
- Pollution Sources and Control: Research on point and non-point sources of pollution, environmental monitoring techniques, and the development of technologies for pollution control, waste treatment, and emission reduction.
- Environmental Risk Assessment: Contributions focusing on hazard identification, exposure assessment, and risk characterization related to chemical and biological agents in the environment.
- Climate Change and Environmental Stressors: Studies on how global environmental changes, such as global warming, ocean acidification, and land-use change, interact with pollutants to affect ecosystems and human health.
- Green Chemistry and Sustainable Alternatives: Research on the design, development, and application of environmentally benign chemicals and processes, including biodegradable materials and less-toxic alternatives.
- Environmental Monitoring and Analytical Techniques: Innovations in sampling, detection, and quantification of environmental contaminants, including remote sensing, sensor development, and advanced analytical instrumentation.
- Soil and Water Remediation: Studies on bioremediation, phytoremediation, and physicochemical methods for the removal of contaminants from soil and aquatic systems.
- Human and Ecological Health Impacts: Multidisciplinary research linking environmental exposure to health outcomes, including studies on endocrine disruption, neurotoxicity, reproductive effects, and cumulative toxicity.
- Environmental Policy and Regulation: Analysis of environmental standards, chemical safety frameworks, international agreements, and the role of science in shaping environmental governance.
Visibility and Open Access:
The journal follows an open access model, which maximizes the visibility of published articles.
Frequency of publication:
The journal follows a continuous publication model, where articles after acceptance are typeset and published in a single volume per year. Therefore, the call for submissions is permanently open.
Speed of publication:
The journal manages the following times of the editorial process: 5 days for the first response from the section editor or pass to peer review; 30 to 45 days responses from the editor on the observations of peer reviewers; 5 to 7 days in layout, metadata uploading and publication on the journal's site.
The editorial team combines rigorous peer review with the efficient timing of the editorial process, which is done exclusively in electronic format.
Promotion and dissemination strategy:
The journal develops a strategy to promote and position published articles on social networks and web platforms, which contributes to increase exposure and access to the articles.
